  • Build love and respect

  • Prevent accidents

  • Increase participation

Float2Fly is a Houston-area 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation founded to build lifelong love and respect for the water, prevent water-related accidents, and increase swim participation by providing and promoting water safety education, swim lessons, and competitive swim programming to underserved populations.

Through relationships with existing organizations and eventually through our own programming, Float2Fly aims to impart water safety education and swim lessons to at-risk populations in the greater Houston area.

While drowning and accident prevention are some of our basic objectives, we also strive to bring positive and impactful mentorship and coaching to these same populations, helping them reach their full potential in and out of the water.

Our Board of Directors

  • Michael Peron

    Founder and President
Michael Peron has coached many levels of swimming for almost ten years, but there is nothing more rewarding than the lasting, positive impact a coach can have on young athletes as they grow and mature through the sport and through life. With the help of like-minded organizations, supportive colleagues, and swimming families, Michael hopes to build Float2Fly to empower people through love and respect for water and for themselves.
  • Seth Huston

    Director
For Seth Huston, Head Coach of Rice University Women’s Swimming and CEO of Rice Aquatics, swimming has been a lifelong journey, producing countless positive relationships and helping him realize what he is capable of achieving—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. With Float2Fly, Seth strives to share and instill this passion for swimming in others, so they too may enjoy a positive, lifelong journey both in and out of the pool.
  • Jared Jefferson

    Director
Jared Jefferson is a former collegiate swimmer whose mission is to ensure low-income families and kids in urban communities have access to year-round swimming and water safety programs. Throughout his career, Jared has worked with local schools, organizations, and businesses to promote the benefits of swimming and water safety. Working with Float2Fly, Jared hopes to help kids increase their chances for success not just in the pool, but in life.
  • John Sussman

    Secretary
John Sussman developed a passion for swim education and swimming after marrying into a family of swimmers. With two kids in the sport, John has learned how swimming can provide a healthy source of competitiveness, teamwork, humility, and safety, which can then cascade to other aspects of life. Through his work with Float2Fly, John aspires to bring these same principles and opportunities to other kids in Houston.
